Auditions for the Royal Trumpeteers of the 83rd Mountain State Forest Festival will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Elkins First United Methodist Church. There will be a mandatory parent/participant meeting beginning at 6:00 pm, with auditions immediately following the parent meeting. Any Randolph County student that will be in 9th through 12th grade for the fall 2019 term is eligible to audition.
Each student auditioning will be required to play a prepared fanfare and sight-read a fanfare. Additionally, students auditioning will be judged on an original paragraph on “Why I Want To Be A Royal Trumpeteer.” An educator reference, including an attendance and grade report, as well as a personal reference will be required. Music and audition rules can be obtained from band directors at Elkins High School, Elkins Middle School, Tygarts Valley Middle/High School, Harman High School, and the Forest Festival office located at 101 Lough Street in Elkins.
Upon completion of the auditions, up to 4 Trumpeteers will be chosen and notified. The Mountain State Forest Festival’s Royal Trumpeteers are included in various festival activities including the tours of Randolph County schools, coronation of Queen Silvia, and the Queen’s Ball.
