Elkins – Mountain State Forest Festival Director General Robbie Morris and Queen’s Department Director Tracy Gooden have announced the appointments of Hannah Lee Phillips and Sarah Diane Riggleman as Maid of Honor to Queen Silvia LXXXIV.

Phillips and Riggleman are bestowed with the highest Randolph County honors in the Forest Festival’s 84th Royal Court.

Maid of Honor Phillips is the daughter of Junior and Peggy Phillips of Coalton. She is the granddaughter of Mickey and Charlotte Phiilips, Sumiko Elmore, and the late James Elmore, of Coalton. She has one brother, Michael.

Hannah, appeared in the 71st Mountain State Forest Festival as a Flower Girl. Her mother, Peggy, served as an Assistant Director of the Queen’s Department for four years.

Phillips is a 2021 graduate of Elkins High School and is currently attending Davis & Elkins College majoring in Elementary Education. At Davis & Elkins College, she is a recipient of the Highland Scholarship and the Underwood Smith Teach Scholarship. She is a member of the National Honors Society of Leadership and Success, named to the President’s List and a member of the Women’s Swim Team.

While at Elkins High School, she was the Salutatorian of the 2021 class, served as Student Body President and was a member of the Spanish Honor Society and a Four-year Class Council member.

Phillips has been employed as coaching the Otters and Rays swim teams, being a lifeguard, babysitting and Zul’s Frozen Lemonade. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, coaching swim  teams, baking and crafting.

             Sarah Diane Riggleman

Maid of Honor Riggleman is the daughter Larry and Brenda Riggleman of Beverly. She is the granddaughter of Floyd Riggleman and the late Brenda Riggleman, of Beverly, and Raymond Hamrick and the late Virginia Hamrick, of Elkins. She has one sister, Haleigh and she appeared in the 77th Mountain State Forest Festival as a Flower Girl.

Riggleman is a 2019 graduate of Elkins High School and is currently attending Davis & Elkins College, majoring in Outdoor Recreation Management and minoring in Accounting. She is a recipient of the Highland Scholarship, West Virginia Rhododendron Girl’s State Scholarship, and the Davis & Elkins College Leadership Scholarship and has been named to the President’s List.

While at Elkins High School, she was an Honor Roll student, member of the National Honor Society, four-year member of Student Council. She served as Student Body President and Class Council Vice President, attended West Virginia Rhododendron Girl’s State and was a Homecoming Princess her senior year. She was a three-year letterman of the women’s basketball team and was named to the All-Conference second team.

Sarah is a member of Landmark Baptist Church where she participated with the puppet team. She is a volunteer coach with the Elkins High School Women’s Basketball team and is employed at Mary’s Greenhouse and Terra Flora Landscaping. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, coaching basketball, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Phillips and Riggleman will accompany Queen Silvia LXXXIV during her Royal Coronation on Oct. 7 at the outdoor amphitheater at David & Elkins College.
